This Resolution, issued by the Environment Authority and consisting of 16 articles, states in Article 2 that the import or transit of hazardous and non-hazardous waste through the Sultanate of Oman is prohibited without a license issued by the Authority. Such activities must comply with the specified requirements. The license is valid until the authorized quantity is exhausted or for a maximum of one year, whichever comes first, and is subject to the fees set out in Appendix 1. The provisions concerning the licenses establish that the licensee must obtain a license from the Authority and provide necessary data upon request, maintain records of waste types and quantities, submit annual reports, record data in the Authority's electronic system, dispose of unused waste according to regulations, install tracking devices on transport vehicles, bear the costs of returning hazardous waste if illegal trafficking occurs, and avoid mixing different types of waste in a single shipment. Under Article 15 the Authority may suspend the license in the following cases (i) failure to comply with environmental requirements; (ii) occurrence of environmental pollution or health impacts.
