This Law regulates the requirements for environmental protection which should be met by legal entities and natural persons who produce and release on the market items such as electrical and electronic equipment and which are engaged in waste treatment of electrical and electronic equipment, as well as other entities that participate in related processes of production and marketing of electrical and electronic equipment, including the limitation of use of certain hazardous substances in the production, method of collection, treatment, processing and disposal of electrical and electronic waste equipment, as well as other waste management issues. Main goals of this Law are: reducing to the lowest possible level the negative impact of waste deriving from electrical and electronic equipment on the environment and human health and promotion of environmental protection standards by by manufacturers, retailers and end users throughout the product life cycle, and in particular the treatment, processing and disposal of electrical waste and electronic equipment. Chapter VI sets out related penalty provisions.
