This Resolution consisting of 10 articles defines the veterinary medicinal preparations as chemical or biological materials and preparations used in the prevention or treatment of animals, poultry, aquatic organisms, bees and birds, including ornamental birds, and their treatment of diseases, epidemics and harmful parasites. It divides them in two main categories (i) veterinary medicines and vaccines; and (ii) medicated feed additives.
Article 1 deals also with (i) the conditions for registration of an enterprise manufacturing veterinary medicinal products; (ii) registration with the Ministry of Agriculture of the importer of veterinary medicinal products; (iii) conditions for registration of veterinary medicinal preparations; (iv) renewal of registration of veterinary medicinal products every 5 years; (v) conditions for granting prior import permission for veterinary medicinal preparations. Article 2 regards the veterinary raw materials, in particular definition, import conditions, additional conditions for factories regarding the local manufacturing process. Article 3 regards food additives and their import, together with the use of ready-made feed. Article 4 deals with disinfectants and sterilizers, including their accreditation. Articles 5-8 regarding procedural matters related to the mechanism of registration, approval, renewal, freezing, cancellation of registration, or cancellation of approval of the different kinds of preparations, and the necessary documents.
Articles 1 and 2 have been amended by Resolution 1291/2012.
