This Act lays down rules on the terms or conditions of every contract of tenancy of an agricultural holding or a house-spot; terminating tenancies with notice; the establishment, functions and powers of the Small Holdings Committee; the content of Memorandum of Agreement; compensation for improvement; and marking of the boundaries of agricultural holdings or house-spots. The Fourth Schedule lists the improvements which are subject to compensation, including irrigation works; land drainage systems and soil conservation works; planting of sugar-cane or other potential crops and permanent crops or trees; control of gullies and water courses; and crop cultivation and all tillage, manuring and farming which are unspent at the date of termination of the contract of tenancy.
