At the sixty-second meeting of the Presiding Officers, delegations will share ideas on the preparations for the fifteenth session of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean (Argentina, 2022). The main topic for the next Regional Conference will be “The care society: a horizon for sustainable recovery with gender equality”.
In addition, a special regional consultation session will be held prior to the sixty-sixth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW66) with the priority theme “Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes”.
The 62ⁿᵈ Meeting is organized by ECLAC, as the Secretariat of the Regional Conference, in coordination with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women). Currently, the Government of Chile, through the Minister for Women and Gender Equity of Chile, chairs the Board of Directors of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean is a subsidiary body of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) that brings together government representatives to monitor compliance with international and regional agreements on gender equality and promotes the incorporation of the gender perspective and the guarantee of women’s human rights in public policies in countries of the region.
