This Order enables regulations to be made to give effect to Annex VI (Regulations for the Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships) to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, as amended by the Protocols of 1973 and 1997. It grants power to the Secretary of State to make Regulations for the prevention of air pollution from ships for the purposes of giving effect to these international agreements.
