The present Act establishes as law the provisions pertaining to the area of legislation in the agreement on fishing in the Tana River basin concluded in Helsinki on 30 September 2016 between the Government of the Republic of Finland and the Government of the Kingdom of Norway. The Act contains rules on agreements on deviation from the provisions of the Fishing Statute; the role of different authorities; the countries' joint monitoring and research group; development and adoption of a management plan; catch registry; selling of fishing permits; supervision of the activities within the fishing area; pricing of fishing permits; the boat registry for the Tana River; among others.
