State Research Program "Development of Research Set out in the Biodiversity Priority Action Program, Part 2" establishes that the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development is designated as the responsible authority for implementation. The total budget amounts to €620,000, allocated across three years and funded from the state budget for the promotion of scientific activity.
The overarching goal of the Program is to generate new knowledge and solutions that balance nature conservation with socio economic interests under changing climate conditions. Its specific objective is to provide a scientific basis for planning and implementing conservation measures necessary to achieve a favourable conservation status for species and habitats. Core tasks include developing scientifically grounded proposals for optimal spatial connectivity of EU important species and habitats, integrating protected areas, micro reserves, and habitats outside formal protection networks into a coherent ecological network.
In addition, the Program focuses on research into habitat dynamics influenced by management practices and climate variability, assessment of ecosystem services and values, and the development of an economic model for biodiversity sustainability, conservation, and restoration, including compensatory measures. Horizontal priorities include building interdisciplinary research teams, cooperation with social and economic stakeholders, integration with higher education, participation in international projects, and knowledge transfer. Expected outputs comprise spatial connectivity models, published research reports and scientific articles, and open-access research data made available in accordance with FAIR data principles, with the possibility of extending the program by up to one year to consolidate and disseminate results.
