This Notification sets out the procedures and principles of (I) waste separation of biodegradable wastes resulting from an activity or arising from businesses without harming the environment and human health, (II) reduction of waste disposal in landfills through recycling, (III) determination of the technical criteria of compost facilities, and (IV) determination of the quality criteria of the products obtained from the compost facilities. This Notification does not apply to wastewater, radioactive waste, animal cadavers, and animal excrement used for agricultural purposes. This Notification lays down the general principles of the management of compost and compost facilities and the duties and powers of the Ministry and provincial and district institutions.
