This Regulation provides for the rules on necessary veterinary checks on live animals and products of animal origin to which the rules listed in Annex A and Annex B of this text.
These rules shall apply only to the animals and/or their products if intended for sale or trade on the territory of the European Union.
This text transposes the following acts of the European Union: Council Directive 90/425/EEC of 26 June 1990 concerning veterinary and zootechnical checks applicable in intra- Community trade in certain live animals and products with a view to the completion of the internal market; and Regulation (EU) 2016/1012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 8 June 2016 on zootechnical and genealogical conditions for the breeding, trade in and entry into the Union of purebred breeding animals, hybrid breeding pigs and the germinal products thereof and amending Regulation (EU) No 652/2014, Council Directives 89/608/EEC and 90/425/EEC and repealing certain acts in the area of animal breeding.
