مجرى طبيعي يتكون في حوض تصريف معين لكنه لا يعتمد اعتمادا كليا في تدفقه على التصريف السطحي في مكانه المباشر. يتدفق في قناة ذات قاع محدد المعالم بين ضفاف مرئية أو عبر انخفاض محدد في الأرض، وله إمداد محدد من الماء بصفة مستديمة أو دورية، وله في المعتاد - وإن لم يكن بالضرورة - مجرى واضح للعيان في اتجاه معين، ويصرف ماءه عند نقطة معينة في كيان مائي آخر.
