Purpose of the Act is to promote the production of energy using renewable energy such as wind, hydro, biogas, biomass, solar, wave and tidal energy and geothermal heat. The regulations aim to ensure reducing dependence on fossil fuels, of CO2 emissions and other greenhouse gases to achieve national and international targets. The Act specifically applies to wind turbines facilities by promoting development measures to harness energy from water and wind on onshore or offshore economic zones. The Ministry of Climate and Energy shall ensure adherence to EU regulations, directives and decisions on nature conservation, by setting conditions on protecting the natural habitats.
