Regulations to control the importation of animals into Fiji for purposes of preventing the spreading of diseases and pests and other purposes.
The 52 regulations are divided into 8 Parts: Preliminary (I); General conditions relating to importation and landing of live animals (II), Requirements for particular animals permitted to be imported (III); Quarantine (IV); Conditions relating to animals on vessels in Fiji or Fiji waters or aerodromes (V); Importation of carcasses (VI); Importation of miscellaneous goods (VII); Penalties (VIII).
Part II contains general provisions relative to the entry and inspection of imported animals into Fiji. Part III contains specific provisions for equine, bovine, bovine semen, caprine, porcine, poultry, bees, fish and fish eggs and other animals. Classes of imported animals are quarantined in accordance with regulation 27 and following (Part IV). Regulation 46 concerns the importation of meat and meat products, whereas regulation 49 provides for importation of dairy products.
