These Regulations are under the Sale of Food Act. The Regulations consist of 261 sections divided into 5 Parts: Preliminary (I); Administration (II); General Provisions (III); Standards and Particular Labelling Requirements for Food (IV); Penalty (V).
The Regulations provide detailed information on the guidelines governing food and agricultural products. All imported and locally produced food, beverage and edible agricultural products (including food ingredients) are required to adhere with the prevailing requirements in these statutes. The Regulations make specific provisions, among others, for: general requirements for labeling; exemptions from general requirements for labeling ; containers to be labeled; hampers to be labeled; nutrition information panels; misleading statements in advertisements; imported food to be registered; food additives; containers for food; irradiated food; false or misleading statements, etc.
Part IV provides standards and particular labeling requirements for the various product categories: flour, bakery and cereal products; aerating ingredients; meat and meat products; fish and fish products; edible fats and oils; milk and milk products; special purpose foods: products consumed by those who require a special diet, such as lowcalorie food, infant foods, diabetic foods, etc.
In the case of a certificate of analysis regarding milk, butter, or any food liable to decomposition, the analyst shall in his certificate specifically report whether, prior to the analysis, any change had taken place in the constitution of the article which would interfere with the analysis.
