Protection from dangerous chemicals In the field of environmental protection, Austria is advocating ambitious goals. This is why we signed the multilateral environmental Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), and ratified it as early as in 2002. Since 2009, its scope was extended from originally 12 to 22 substances. The Convention aims at the optimal protection of human health and the environment from these dangerous and persistent chemicals.
