The present Act contains provisions necessary for implementing Regulation (EC) No. 66/2010 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the EU Ecolabel. The competent body referred to in Article 4 of the EU Ecolabel Regulation shall be Ympäristömerkintä Suomi Oy in Finland. The Finnish Environment Institute shall be the market surveillance authority for products that are ecolabeled in accordance with this Act. The Act contains detailed rules on fees, other obligations for the applicant of the label, penalties for breaches of confidentiality, and other matters related to the EU Ecolabel.
