The present Act contains provisions concerning the Veterinary Medical Damage Board. The task of the Veterinary Medical Damage Board is, upon request, to issue an opinion on whether a treatment error has been committed during a procedure performed by a veterinarian or in connection with any other action taken by a veterinarian in relation to the treatment of an animal. The board is appointed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for a term of three years at a time. The Act contains detailed rules on preparation of cases and their handling in the board, power of decision, personnel, among others.
