This Regulation lays down rules on checks on conformity to marketing standards for the sectors and products referred to in Article 1 of Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/2429 at all marketing stages; and the requirements for notifications of non-conformity following conformity checks. It requires each Member State to designate a single competent inspection authority responsible for carrying out conformity checks at each stage of marketing and for contacts with and coordination between all designated inspection bodies. Article 3 sets out conditions for the establishment of a database on traders in the sectors and products referred to in Article 1 of Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/2429.
Furthermore, this Regulation lays down provisions on authorization of traders classified in the lowest risk category in accordance with the conformity checks; criteria for risk assessment; conditions for the acceptance of export declarations and/or declarations for the release into free circulation for the products subject to specific marketing standards; certificates of conformity for fresh fruit and vegetables or bananas subject to marketing standards; approval of conformity checks carried out by third countries prior to import into the Union; methods of inspection and rules on findings of non-conformity; and obligation of notification where a consignment from another Member State is found not to conform with the marketing standards.
