This Regulation defines the measures for prevention, control and elimination of bluetongue animal disease in ruminants, both domestic and wild. The Regulation also stipulates rules on control over the implementation of such animal health measures.
The Bulgarian National Veterinary Service shall immediately declare any case of suspicion or confirmation of the presence of bluetongue animal infectious disease on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria in a manner that was previously determined by the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry.
Section II sets out the prevention measures; Section III provides measures to be observed in case of disease suspicion; Section IV lists the measures aimed at limiting and eradicating the disease object of this text (including vaccination).
Article 3 states that in order to prevent the infection and spread of bluetongue in ruminants, the following preventive measures shall be implemented: periodic clinical examinations of sheep reared in border settlements; serological testing of indicators of animals raised in border settlements; control of hunted wild ruminants and collection of laboratory materials; control over the species composition and population of the disease vector; disinfection and disinfestation of vehicles engaged in animal transport.
