This Resolution designates the Secretariado Nacional para a Ação Climática (SNAC) as Cabo Verde’s National Designated Authority (NDA) to the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The main objective of this designation is to ensure a coordinated, technically robust, and strategically aligned approach to accessing international climate finance, especially crucial for Cabo Verde as a Small Island Developing State. By centralizing responsibilities within the SNAC—an entity already created to coordinate national climate policy under the new Climate Governance Framework—the resolution strengthens the country’s capacity to mobilize financial resources for climate adaptation, mitigation, and resilience priorities. In addition, it also aims at the institutional streamlining and elimination of redundancies in the national climate finance architecture. This change aims to simplify decision‑making, enhance efficiency, and ensure that the body responsible for national climate policy is also empowered to validate funding proposals and guarantee alignment with Cabo Verde’s long‑term climate and development strategies.
