The Act defines terms such as “goods,” which include all personal movable property except money and things in action, as well as emblements, industrial growing crops, and items attached to land that are agreed to be severed before or under the contract of sale. It established rules on contract formation, including capacity to buy and sell, formal requirements for higher-value contracts, and provisions for existing, future, or perished goods and methods of determining price. It also regulated delivery, payment, transfer of property and risk, and buyer acceptance. The Act further addressed auction sales, contractual variation of implied terms, and the application of common law principles.
