The Styrian State Equal Treatment Act 2023 establishes a comprehensive legal framework to ensure equal treatment, gender equality, and protection against discrimination in public service and related areas. It defines key terms, the scope of application, and the legal concept of discrimination, while mandating fair employment practices in recruitment, training, remuneration, and career advancement. The Act also introduces specific equality measures, such as support for employees on parental leave and institutionalized equality programs. It outlines legal consequences and compensation mechanisms for violations of equal treatment obligations and prohibits victimization of employees asserting their rights. Furthermore, it establishes institutional mechanisms—including the Equal Treatment Commission, Equal Treatment Officers, and contact persons—responsible for monitoring compliance, providing expert opinions, and reporting to the regional government and parliament. The text consists of 59 Articles divided into 5 Parts.
