The United Nations Environment Assembly, 

Recognizing the latest relevant scientific findings on increasing environmental pressures and impacts, including those of the Sixth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the 2019 Global Assessment Report on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, 

Noting the findings of the Global Resources Outlook 2024 of the International Resource Panel, the Global Sustainable Development Report 2023, and the report entitled Synergy Solutions for a World in Crisis: Tackling Climate and SDG Action Together, 

Welcoming the adoption by the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity of decision 15/4 of 19 December 2022,1 by which the Conference of the Parties adopted the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and decision 15/13 of 19 December 2022 on cooperation with other conventions and international organizations,

Noting with appreciation the outcomes of the Bern III Conference on cooperation among the biodiversity-related conventions for the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework as an important contribution to effective implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework, 

Recognizing the importance of cooperation among multilateral environmental agreements and, as applicable, other relevant environmental instruments, while respecting their individual mandates, 

Recognizing also the value of strengthened synergies, cooperation or collaboration, as appropriate, when implementing respective obligations and commitments under multilateral environmental agreements and, as applicable, other relevant environmental instruments, while respecting their respective mandates, and in collaboration, where relevant, with stakeholders and partners, 

1. Encourages Member States to: 

(a) Enhance synergies, cooperation or collaboration, as appropriate, when implementing their respective obligations and commitments under multilateral environmental agreements and other relevant environmental instruments, while respecting their individual mandates, thereby contributing to the effective implementation of national environmental policies and actions, delivering global environmental benefits, and contributing to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development3 and the Sustainable Development Goals, considering the best available science, Indigenous knowledge, traditional knowledge and local knowledge; 

(b) Enhance knowledge and understanding of the potential co-benefits of synergies, cooperation or collaboration, as appropriate, by increasing efforts to collect and share good practices and foster information exchange; 

2. Requests the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme, subject to the availability of resources, to: 

(a) Assist Member States, on request, to enhance synergies, cooperation or collaboration, as mentioned in paragraph 1 above; 

(b) Collect and synthesize good practices, tools, success stories and lessons learned and share them with Member States, relevant partners and stakeholders, through relevant existing regional and global platforms and forums, and building on existing initiatives, to improve synergies, cooperation or collaboration, as mentioned in paragraph 1 above; 

(c) Report to the United Nations Environment Assembly at its seventh session on the implementation of the present resolution.
