Definition(s)

UNEP states that ‘Environmental Rights’ include rights of both humans (individually and communally) and non-humans (i.e. the rights of nature). They also include both substantive rights (such as the right to a healthy environment) and procedural rights (access to information, public participation, and access to justice).
