The present Act lays down the legislative framework applicable to apiculture, which falls within the definition of agricultural activity laid down in article 2135 of the Civil Code (art. 2). The Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Policies shall, in implementation of Council Regulation (EC) No. 797/2004, draw up a programme for the development of apiculture and the promotion of related products in compliance with Directive 2001/110/EC concerning honey (art. 5).
