This Act makes provision with respect to prevention and mitigation of disasters and establishes the National Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit, the National Disaster Management Council, the Disaster Relief Trust Fund, the National Disaster Management Technical Committee and other (local) public bodies for disaster management. The Unit shall prepare national disaster management plans to be approved by the Council. Sector disaster management plans shall be prepared by persons operating in sectors of environment, agriculture, food, etc.
