This Act, consisting of 16 Parts and six Schedules, provides for the regulation, supply and use of electricity in New Zealand.
The Act aims to protect the health and safety of members of the public in connection with the supply and use of electricity, to promote the prevention and damage to property in connection with the supply and use of electricity and to provide for the regulation of electrical workers.
The Act further provides for: power and duties of electricity operators and other owners of electrical works; electrical codes of practice; restrictions on electrical work; registration and licensing of electrical workers; appeals; establishment of an Electrical Workers Registration Board; offences and penalties; etc.
