This Act aims to promote energy efficiency, energy conservation and the use of renewable sources of energy.
The Minister shall develop a national energy efficiency and conservation strategy. Contents and terms of the strategy and the procedures for implementing the strategy are set out in the Act.
The Act provides for the establishment of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority and defines its powers and functions, and its internal organization.
The Act further provides for regulation making powers of the Governor-General and for offences.
