This Act amends the Fisheries Management Act 1994 and the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 to provide for the assessment of the environmental impact of fishing activities, to provide for the protection of aquatic habitats and to reorganize the commercial fisheries sector. The Act provides for the establishment of the Fisheries Resource Conservation and Assessment Council, for the management of shared fisheries and for the protection of fish habitats. Other amendments concern recreational fishing fees and commercial fishing entitlements.
