Based on the provisions of the Montenegrin Law on food safety, this Programme (meant for the year 2022) establishes measures aimed to monitor the safety of food, items and materials that come into contact with food and feed on the basis of individual monitoring: the presence of residues of illicit substances, veterinary drugs to monitor compliance with the withdrawal period, other substances and contaminants of the living environment and animals, their secretions, body fluids, tissues, products of animal origin, animal feed and water for animal feed, pesticide residues in food, microbiological criteria in food, contaminants in food, microbiological and chemical hazards in food of non-animal origin subject to increased import controls, levels of dioxins in food, food quality, ways to provide information to consumers about food, undesirable substances in food for animals, all aimed to verify the compliance of food with the prescribed safety and quality requirements. The Programme determines the types of food hazards, conditions and manner of conducting monitoring, manner of sampling, methods of laboratory tests, bodies/organizations conducting related monitoring, funds for financing, measures which shall be undertaken in case of determination of the presence of hazards in food and feed, other data of importance for implementation of programmes and related activities and actions in order to determine the cause and origin of non-compliance.
