This Regulation establishes product specifications, reserved denominations, and labelling requirements for sugar and related products marketed in Norway, including white sugar, refined sugar, glucose syrups, dextrose, fructose, and invert sugar products, while excluding icing sugar, rock candy, and loaf sugar. It sets compositional purity criteria and analytical standards for these products, prescribes additional labelling rules for certain syrups and fructose-containing products, and assigns supervision and enforcement to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority. The regulation also implements Norway’s EEA obligations by giving effect to EU Directive 2001/111/EC on sugars intended for human consumption.
