This Act amends the Wild Life Protection Act. Amendments concern the following matters: replacing terms and definitions, including the definition of Exclusive Economic Zone; repealing and replacement of section 11 of the original Act concerning protection of any waters (any harbour, river, stream, canal, lagoon or estuary) containing fish from trade effluents, industrial waste, sewage or any other pollutant matter, and related offences in case of misconduct; replacement of penalties and fines; insertion of new fines for the following offences: hunting any animal or bird in a game sanctuary; taking the egg or the nest of any bird in a game sanctuary; taking any dog into a game sanctuary; carrying weapons in a game sanctuary; hunting protected animals and protected birds; hunting any game bird during the close season; taking or attempting to take any turtle eggs; hunting any animal or bird in or taking any eggs from the Exclusive Economic Zone without a licence issued under the provisions of the Act; killing or attempting to kill or injure fish which is immature; using, or causing to be used, dynamite or other explosive substance with intent thereby to take, kill, or injure fish in any water; using, or causing to be used in any river, stream or canal any trap other than the authorised ones; refusing to admit any fishery inspector in the exercise of any of the powers conferred by the Act.
