The present Regulations are made under the Indian Act. The Regulations establish that ministerial permits are required, but exceptions are made for band’s harvesting on unallotted lands. In this connexion section 4(2) establishes that a person, acting on behalf of the Council of a band may, without a licence, cut timber on any reserve lands that have not been allotted and that are not already subject to a licence, if the timber and any product made from the timber is intended for use on first nation lands of the band. The text consists of 10 sections and 1 Schedule listing only one First Nation.
