Aim of this Decree is the conservation of biodiversity through a series of measures and procedures required to maintain or restore the natural habitats and the populations of species of wild fauna and flora at a favourable status. The provisions of the Decree are laid down in conformity with Council Directives 92/43/EEC and 97/62/EC. The Decree, consisting of 23 articles is composed as follows: objective (art.1); definitions (art.2); participation to the European ecological network of special areas of conservation (Natura 2000); special protection areas – national list of sites (art. 4); national Committee for the Natura 2000 network (art. 5); protection measures on the special areas of conservation (art. 6); procedure for receiving financial aid by the European Commission (art. 7);declassification of special areas of conservation (art. 8); management of features of the landscape (art. 9); checks on the required conditions (art. 10); prohibitions for the protection of wild fauna species (art. 11); prohibitions for the protection of wild flora species (art. 12); conservation measures to be applied for the maintenance of wild fauna and flora (art. 13); derogations (art. 14); list of specially protected species (Annexes III, IV and V) (art. 15); complementary provisions (art. 16); notification on measures to be taken (art. 17); research – exchange of information (art. 18); sanctions (art. 19); annexes (art. 20); final provisions (arts. 21, 22); entry into force (art. 23).
