This Notification determines quality standards for shellfish waters and aims to protect and preserve the selfish stocks and waters from the negative effects of discharges of pollutants into this waters. The Notification also covers establishment and functioning of monitoring programs, programs for the reduction of pollution, inspection and sampling. The Notification also contains two Annexes composed of the lists of shellfish waters and quality standards for each region.

The provisions of this Regulation are governed by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Minister of Environment and Forests.
