This Regulation establishes the national standards setting effective permitted levels or concentration as regards the presence of certain substances and pollutants (substances such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, fine particulate matter, lead, benzene, carbon monoxide and ozone) in ambient air on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.
This text further sets the alert thresholds for sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and ozone and information threshold for ozone; the uniform methods and criteria for assessment of levels of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, PM, lead, benzene, carbon monoxide and ozone in the ambient air, including the registration, processing and delivery of result and evaluation data.
The aim of this text is to avoid, prevent or limit the harmful effects; to improve the ambient air quality in areas where the established norms are been exceeded, also through the negotiation and implementation of cross-border measures for such purpose; to provide the population with relevant information.
This text introduces the requirements stipulated by the Directive 2008/50/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2008 on ambient air quality and cleaner air for Europe.
The Annex is part of this publication (list of technical standards; list of assessment requirements and limits).
