This Regulation prescribes all necessary rules and standards aimed to implement the mandatory measures in approved slaughtering, production, storage and processing of animal products in order to reduce the effective microbiological and other contamination of meat, meat products and other products of animal origin, in order to protect human health and the equalization animal health conditions laid down in the Republic of Croatia with the conditions required by the United States (U.S.) and the Council of the European Union (EU).
The purpose of the prescribed measures is to improve the efficiency of veterinary public health system control over the foodstuff of animal origin for a correct and sustainable preservation of human health, the removal of barriers to international trade in animals and animal products, and the retention of the right to export meat, meat products and other animal products from the Croatian Republic into the U.S. and EU.
The deadline for implementing the control of manufacturing processes in accordance with the provisions on the implementation of the HACCP system, for approved establishments classified as export facilities, will be 1 January 1998.
