The present Ordinance implements the Water Resources Act of 31 July 2009 (BGBl.I p. 2585).The Ordinance lays down provisions relating to the protection of surface waters and the economic analysis of the use of water. The text - consisting of 13 articles – deals, inter alia, with the following aspects: purpose, definition of terms, location, boundaries and allocation of surface water bodies, classification of ecological state, classification of chemical state, surface water bodies destined for potable water production, survey of ecological state d, economic analysis of water use.
