The present Ordinance enforces the Animal Disease Act in its consolidated version of 22 June 2004 (BGBl. I p. 1260), the Cattle Transport Ordinance in its version of 3 March 2010 (BGBl. I p. 203) and the Thüringen Animal Disease Law of 8 May 2001. In particular, the Ordinance lays down provisions relating to competences and transfer of powers in view of the execution of the afore-mentioned legislation. The text consists of 27 articles.

The present Ordinance is consolidated as of 2 June 2013.The present Ordinance repeals the previous Ordinance on the same subject of 29 July 2002.
