ملوث ثانوي يتكون من انبعاثات أكاسيد النيتروجين والمركبات العضوية الطيارة غير المحتوية على الميثين وأول أكسيد الكربون. ويؤدي الأوزون لإيذاء النسيج الرئوي وإلى حرقة في العينين وحكة في الزور. ويعتقد أن له دورا في موت أشجار الغابات وتدمير المحاصيل الزراعية، إلخ.
