The Act modifies the Water Services Industry Act 2006 to reinforce the regulation of water supply services and sewerage services in Peninsular Malaysia and the Federal Territory of Labuan. It clarifies the scope of the Federation’s executive authority in these areas and introduces new provisions to address contamination of watercourses, septic tanks, and manholes. The amendments also increase penalties for offences and establish obligations for offenders to bear restoration costs incurred by licensees.
