The purpose of this Regulation is to establish the procedures and principles governing the inspection of vessels engaged in maritime transport within the maritime jurisdiction of Türkiye for compliance with applicable international conventions to which Türkiye is a party, particularly in relation to the safety of navigation, the protection of life, property, and the marine environment, and the living and working conditions of seafarers on board. The Regulation further provides for the imposition of appropriate administrative measures and sanctions in respect of non-compliant vessels and sets forth the procedures for the authorization, appointment, and duties of port State control officers responsible for conducting such inspections.
