At its fourth meeting, the COP to the Minamata Convention on Mercury agreed to begin the first effectiveness evaluation of the Convention, established the Open-Ended Scientific Group and a process to refine a list of indicators to for the evaluation for its possible adoption at COP-5. Two matters remained open for consideration at COP-5: (a) the timeline of the first effectiveness evaluation and (b) the membership of the Effectiveness Evaluation Group. This deep-dive session provides an opportunity to have a closer look at the documents that were prepared to support COP-5 in its deliberations under agenda item (k) on Effectiveness Evaluation.
