13:15 - 14:45 CET, Geneva, Switzerland: the Minamata Convention on Mercury, a global treaty aimed at protecting human health and the environment from the harmful effects of mercury, was adopted ten years ago and signed by over 140 countries at its diplomatic conference in Kumamoto, Japan. Since its inception, the Minamata Convention has made significant strides in addressing the multifaceted challenges posed by mercury pollution, while promoting international cooperation and sustainable practices.
