This Law regulates the: energy policy objectives and the manner of its implementation; energy activities and manner of regulation of energy activities; construction of energy facilities; status and powers of the Energy Regulatory Commission of the Republic Macedonia; electricity market, the market for natural gas, crude oil, oil derivatives and fuels for transport and heating energy market; requirements for achieving sustainable use, energy efficiency and promoting the use of renewable energy; and various other issues of importance for energy sector.
The major purpose of this Law is to ensure the: safe, secure and high quality supply of energy; creation of an efficient, competitive and financially sustainable energy sector; encouraging the competition on energy markets with the principles of non-discrimination, objectivity and transparency; integration of energy markets in the Republic of Macedonia in regional and international energy markets in accordance with their obligations under ratified international agreements; protection of the environment from the adverse impacts of certain activities in the field of energy.
This Law is divided into XVII Chapters and 208 articles, including the offences and penalties.
