Decision directed to Secretariat

The Secretariat shall: 

a) review the CITES Forest Compendium to update it with existing Resolutions and Decisions and supportive provisions related to the implementation of the Convention relevant to forests and focused on CITES-listed tree-species, and publish the Compendium on the CITES website; 

b) subject to external resources, 

i) collaborate within the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF) to facilitate and support the implementation and visibility of the CITES Tree Species Programme and the CPF workplan 2025-2028; 

ii) strengthen outreach efforts on the existing work on tree species and ensure effective communication of the results; 

iii) based on recommendations from the Plants Committee under Decision 20.22, paragraph b), strengthen and improve reliability of information on trade in specimens of CITES-listed tree species in the CITES Trade Database, taking into consideration the conclusions and recommendations from the CTSP-ITTO Review of Trade in Selected CITES-listed Tree Species; and 

iv) explore fundraising opportunities with bilateral, multilateral and other partners to support activities under the CITES Forest Compendium; and 

c) submit a report on the implementation of Decision 20.21 for consideration by the Plants Committee, after the Plants Committee has reviewed the reports referred to in paragraph a) of Decision 20.22.
