This Decree, implementing provisions of the Nuclear Energy Act, the Environmental Management Act, and of the European Council Directive 2013/59 concerning safety standards for protection against the dangers arising from exposure to ionising radiation, provides for protecting the health of persons exposed to occupational or medical radiation, against the hazards of the exposure, and thus it includes: basic safety standards and related provisions; a control system with a system of radiation protection for all exposure situations. Matters covered by this Decree include: justification of actions and exemptions; multiple and medical exposure; optimisation of the radiation protection; dose restriction; control system and activities involving naturally occurring radioactive material; categories of activities requiring a permit to use radioactive devices or instruments; categories of exempted or released sources and actions; information and transparency; radiation incidents, accidents and radiological emergencies; accident management and national crisis plans; business emergency plans and interventions by entrepreneurs; government interventions in the event of accidents and radiological emergencies; national programme for radioactive waste management; management and disposal of radioactive waste; designation of radioactive material as waste.
