光污染是指改变生态系统中自然明暗规律的人造光。它包括直接眩光、长期加大照明和临时、意外的灯光波动。生态光污染的来源包括人为白昼现象、建筑照明、路灯、渔船、安保灯、车灯、海上石油平台的灯光闪烁，甚至海底研究船上的灯。有害影响波及动物、蔬菜和人类。虽然光污染对夜间活动动物、迁徙动物以及飞行中的动物非常有害，但它也对植物产生有害影响。（来源：LONGCORE, T., RICH, C. 2004年）生态光污染。Front Ecol Environ 2004;2[4]：191-198）
