This Act regulates the establishment and operation of pipeline infrastructure for the transport of CO₂ in Denmark, including in Danish territorial waters, the exclusive economic zone and the continental shelf. It requires ministerial permits for CO₂ pipeline systems, sets conditions on technical and financial capacity, operators, design and safety, third-party access, prices and terms, monitoring, reporting of leaks or major irregularities, remedial measures, supervision, environmental and nature-protection conditions, expropriation, liability, insurance, transfer of permits, decommissioning plans, appeals and penalties. The Act supports the development of carbon capture and storage infrastructure and partly implements EU rules on geological storage of CO₂, nature protection and habitats.
This Act does not apply to the Faroe Islands or Greenland.
