The objetive of this Act is to promote the sustainable development and management of agricultural land by balancing the preservation of the production basis and the preservation of nature, environment, and scenic values. The Act applies to all agricultural land listed in Article 1 and lays down obligations for owners and users of the areas covered by the Act, as well as businesses connected to agricultural operations. The Act contains rules on the utilization of soil resources for cultivation and nature; scenic and landscapes of value; combatting of Giant Hogweed; harmful animals; etc.
This Act promotes sustainable development and management of agricultural land in regards to the preservation of environmental and landscape values. All agricultural land in rural and urban areas listed with farming obligation, must be used for agricultural purposes. The Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries shall determine which plant species are considered unfitted due to risk of crops damaging. Owners or operators of agricultural lands shall keep their land free from trees and shrubs.
The Act does not apply to Greenland nor the faroe Islands.
